The oldest film festival in America

Founded in 1952, the Columbus International Film & Animation Festival is the oldest film festival in the United States. The festival showcases world-class independent films in central Ohio.

How we pick our films

Every year, juries made up of industry professionals view all entries to determine which films to include in public screenings. The juries select screening participants, awards and distinctions for each category. Awards of distinction are offered, when applicable, for Achievements in Education, Achievements in Technology and Achievements in the Arts, as well as other categories.

About the Columbus Film Council

The Columbus Film Council is a volunteer advisory board appointed for two year terms. Members represent the Greater Columbus community. The board works to help enable and shape the Columbus International Film Festival to be the best possible representation of the Columbus film and arts community.
